"It's beginning to look a lot like winter..." Yes, I know the word is supposed to be Christmas, not winter, BUT now that I've got the tune stuck in your head, go ahead and make up your own words. The first thing (other than the cold weather) that told me it was winter, was when my niece and nephew came home from school wanting hot chocolate... enough hot chocolate to fill the BIGGEST mugs they could find, with an overflowing pile of marshmallows.
I'm not a fan of hot chocolate, (or anything chocolate for that matter) but I love the creativity that hot chocolate offers. There are so many flavors that go with chocolate- combinations that can be tailored to match everyone's taste. Peanut butter for my brother-in-law, cinnamon for my niece, mocha for my sister, or just straight up chocolate for those who like it "as is".
Want to get real crazy? Orange...add a bit of orange zest. Salted caramel... add a bit of salt and some caramel candy. Have a love for Mexican chocolate? Mix in a bit of cinnamon and chipotle powder. The possibilities are endless!
We'd love to know what YOUR drink of choice is (hot chocolate, of course...). Let us know via Facebook, Instagram or leave a comment at the bottom of this post.
In the meantime, light a fire, grab a great book, and a hot cup of hot chocolate because "It's beginning to look a lot like winter".
