If I had 3 Thanksgiving wishes, I'd wish for more time to cook, more people to cook for, and more room in my stomach!
But, I haven't yet found my genie... so these wishes will have to wait.
What I can do is dream and drool over Thanksgiving dinner ideas. Forget about the turkey- it's the side dishes we all come to the table for. And I rarely meet (eat) a turkey that's worth talking about.
The exception would be the year we raised and processed (a less graphic way of saying butchered) our own turkey. Thank you husband, for bringing my dream of farm-to-table to our table, she was delicicous.
That was the same year we had "Friendsgiving," and no less than 4 of us stood around the stove debating how to make the perfect roux- only Jessie didn't know what a roux was- bless her sweet heart. But she brought two perfect dishes of green bean casserole, that absolutely redeemed her culinary credibility.
We've compiled a complete (minus the turkey) Thanksgiving dinner menu for you; what we'd make if we were cooking for a crowd.
This year,my husband will be working at the fire station, and my two picky kids (mashed potatoes and rolls, please), aren't worth the trouble of preparing a giant fancy meal. So we'll choose a few of the most tempting recipes to make, and count on you to make the rest!
Let us know what your favorites are~ and next year, you're all invited for Friendsgiving.
We are really, truly thankful for you all!
